Guitar lessons
Acoustic guitar, from the first chord.
Guitar lessons start at the very beginning: first chords, clean changes, and strumming that stays in time. Lessons are built around music the student wants to play, so practice feels like playing rather than drilling. Reading and a little theory come along the way.
In a guitar lesson
- First chords and smooth chord changes
- Strumming patterns and reliable timing
- Songs the student chooses, from the start
- Chord charts and basic tab reading
- Technique that keeps playing comfortable
Beginner guitarists from around age eight up, including adult beginners. Younger children often start on ukulele and move across.

Guitar lesson questions
- How old should a child be to start guitar?
- Around age eight, when hands are big enough for the fretboard. Younger children usually start on ukulele and move to guitar later.
- Acoustic or electric?
- Lessons are on acoustic guitar to begin with; it builds the cleanest foundation. A beginner acoustic is all that is needed to start.
- I am an adult beginner. Will I keep up?
- Yes. Lessons are paced to you, and adults often progress quickly because practice is consistent.
